VIA publie en libre téléchargement le source de ses drivers graphiques

L'annonce a été faite hier sur www.viaarena.com

VIA distribue maintenant « librement » le source des pilotes graphiques pour linux (2.4 + 2.6) et Xfree86 de ses chipsets à capacités vidéos intégrées.

Cela concerne notamment les chipsets des séries suivantes :
CLE266, CN400, PM800, PM880, KM, KN, PM, P-4M, P-4N266, PL133/T, KL133/A et KM133/A.
Cela signifie donc que toute la gamme actuellement en vente est concernée.


Les sources sont récupérables par tout un chacun sur http://www.viaarena.com/(...) dans la section drivers>sources

La seule mention de licence que j'ai pu trouvé, dans les fichiers source, est la suivante :

N'étant pas du tout compétent en matière de licence, la question que je me pose, et vous pose avec ce journal, est simple :
La société VIA est-elle bien en train de franchir le pas et de « libérer » ses drivers graphiques ou n'est-ce qu'une illusion ?
